Seorang wanita memohon jawatan tukang sapu di Microsoft.
Pegawai disitu telah mengadakan temuduga dan meminta wanita itu
menunjukkan caranya membersih lantai.. Lalu dia mengatakan
"Anda diterima bekerja... berikan email anda, kami akan mengirim
maklumat yang diperlukan."
Wanita itu menyatakan yang dia tidak memiliki komputer dan juga email.
Penemuduga terus mengatakan bahawa tanpa email .. wanita itu tidak boleh

Wanita itu menerima keputusan itu dengan rasa kecewa dan hanya memiliki

Ada seorang pak cik yang bernama Pak DI yang sangat kaya. Setiap hari beliau akan menyimpan RM1000 di bank. Setiap hari tepat pukul 9 pagi Pak Di dah pun bersiap sedia terpacak di kuanter bank untuk menyimpan RM1000nya.

Setelah lebih kurang setahun berlalu, kehadirannya setiap hari disedari oleh Manager Bank. Menager Bank itu pun memanggilnya ke office dan bertanya.

Manager : Setiap hari saya lihat pak cik akan menyimpan RM1000 dibank. Apa kerja pak cik?

Pak DI : Saya ni sebenarnya takde kerja encik. Cuma saya suka bertaruh. Setiap hari saya akan bertaruh dan saya tak pernah kalah.

Manager : Ooo... ini sudah cukup bagus. Tapi pak cik mungkin belum bertemu dengan orang yang teror macam saya ni. Kalau pak cik bertaruh dengan saya jangan haraplah nak menang.

Pak DI : Iye ke? Kalau macam tu jom kita bertaruh.

Manager : Okay. Sebutkan apa saja pak cik nak bertaruh dengan saya.

Pak DI: Macam ni... dalam tempoh 7 hari dari sekarang encik akan kehilangan telur encik. Kalau betul encik akan hilang RM1000, kalau tak saya akan bayar encik RM1000.

Manager : Hahaha.. tak logiklah pak cik. Tapi tak pe... saya setuju.

Setelah kedua-duanya setuju mereka pun beredar. Besoknya bila bangun pagi Manager tu pun meraba telurnya.. ooh masih ada.Begitulah seterusnya hinggalah sampai ke hari yang ketujuh dia dapati telurnya masih lagi ada....... Dengan suka hatinya Manager tersebut pun pergilah berjumpa dengan Pak DI.

Manager : Pak cik sorrylah ye.. telur saya masih lagi ada..

Pak DI : Betul ke? Aku tak percaya... Mari sini aku pegang...Lalu dipegangnya anu Manager tu. Sambil tersenyum Pak DI pun berkata.. Okaylah.. Betul kata kau. Nah ambil RM1000 ni.

Pak DI pun menghulurkannya.

Manager : Hari ni baru pak cik tahu siapa yang teror... Sorrylah pakcik.Hari ni pak cik tak dapat pergi bank lagi laaaa keh.. keh.. keh...

Tiba-tiba Pak Di mengeluarkan RM4000 dan pergi ke kuanter bank. Manager tersebut rasa hairan lalu bertanya pada Pak DI.....

Manager: mana pak cik dapat duit sebanyak tu?

Pak DI : Pak cik bertaruh dengan kawan pak cik Guard kat luar tu tadi RM5000.

Manager : Bertaruh apa?

Pak DI : Bertaruh yang pak cik dapat pegang telur Manager Bank.....

Manager : Tak guna punya orang tua....

PM kesayangan ku

Saya ingin mengucapkan terima kasih kepada Pak Lah kerana menaikkan harga minyak. Selepas ini apabila harga minyak naik, harga barang yg lain akan naik. Saya akan merubah tabiat saya dari makan ikan kembung yg dah merah mata dan pecah perut kepade ikan kering sahaja. Saya sanggup berkorban untuk UMNO dan BN.

Anak saya yangg seramai 5 orang itu boleh bekerja selepas waktu sekolah untuk membantu keluarga dan meneruskan tradisi menyokong UMNO dan BN. Saya akan merubah bilik-bilik yang ada di rumah saya untuk dijadikan tempat menternak ikan dan menanam sayur secare hidroponik. Saya terpaksa tanam dalam bilik kerana saya duduk dekat rumah flat.

Rebet yang diberikan kepada saya memang melebih dari keperluan saya. Apabila saya congak, saya hanya menggunakan 20 sen saja duit minyak motor sehari. Ada untung 21 sen. Saya tak pakai pon kete sebab bile minyak naik saya kene jual Datsun kotak mancis saya. Dapat gak duit. Anak-anak saya, saya akan suruh eksesais setiap hari dengan berjalan kaki atau naik beskal ke sekolah. Sejauh 5 KM walaupon saya berpendapatan RM 1000, ia terlebih cukup untuk keluarga saya.

Buat permulaan untuk merubah kehidupan saya, saya tidak akan menggunakan gula, tak akan menggunakan tepung untuk buat jempot-jempot. Akan menggantikan beras ngan ubi. Setiap hari saya dan keluarga akan berpuasa (kecuali pade hari hari yg dilarang ajerk). Saya akan buat minyak masak sendiri itu antara care saya merubah hidup.

Ade banyak lagi care semuanya kerana UMNO dan BN. Dan saya ingin meminta Pak Lah supaya menaikkan lagi harga minyak yg ade. Bukan tu ajerk, diminta menaikkan lagi harga tol kerana org sebelah rumah saya nih orang pembangkang. Dia selalu ikut highway, bior padan ngan muke
dia.

Mungkin Pak Lah boleh melawat saya dan bersedekah kepade saya sehelai kain pelikat dekat-dekat pilihanraya nanti. Insyaallah kain pelikat itu saya akan framekan dan gantung dirumah. Tapi jangan lupa Pak Lah tandatangan yerk..! Jgn lupe Pak Lah, naikkan lagi harga minyak. Jgn turun kan gaji menteri-menteri dan tuan penasihat 25%.

Saya tetap akan menyokong Pak Lah. Akhir kata bior Pak Lah senang, janji kami susah. Hidup UMNO, hidup BN.

Ada dua org anak kembar. namanya tam dan toni.mereka sudah dewasa dan telah beristeri. Tam mempunyai sebuah perahu yg sangat usang.Kebetulan suatu hari isteri Toni meninggal ketika menaiki perahu Tam. Beberapa hari kemudian seorang wanita tua berjumpatam, dan secara tidak sengaja menyangkanya Toni yg barukehilangan isterinya. Wanita itu berkata kpd Tam ” saya turut bersedih atas kehilangan yg anda rasakan.Tentu anda merasa sedih. “Tam yg menyangka bahawa wanita itu bercakap tentang perahu menjawab, “tak apalah, sebenarnya memang dah lama saya ingin membuangnya… ..dah tua,lagipun memang tak berapa menarik sejak pertama kali melihatnya. Bahagian bawahnya sudah lapok dan berbau busuk. Bahagian buntutnya dah teruk , lubang bahagian depannya pun dah sangat lebar. Setiap kali aku menggunakannya, lubangnya bertambah besar dan bocor. ” saya rasa yg paling merosakkanya ialah semasa saya meminjamkannya kepada 4 org kawan. Saya sudah ingatkan kawan2 keadaannya sudah tidak berapa baik. Tapi mereka masih juga mahu menggunakannya. Mereka berempat cuba masuk ke ke dalam serentak dan akhirnya ia terbelah ditengah2. Mendengar kata2 itu wanita tua itupun pengsan............Hahahaha

Saya berada di sebuah restoran semalam. Tiba-tiba saya rasa macam nak terkentut.
Muzik yang dipsang di restoran itu kuat, jadi saya melepaskan kentut saya mengikut alunan irama muzik itu.

Selepas beberapa minit saya berasa lega.

Saya menghabiskan minuman saya, semasa bangun dari tempat duduk saya lihat orang sekeliling memandang saya dengan muka yang masam...

Baru saya sedar rupa-rupanya saya dengar muzik dari ipod saya… :-(

Dua minggu yang lalu merupakan ulang tahunku yang ke-45 dan mood-ku tidak terlalu baik pada pagi itu. Aku turun untuk sarapan dengan harapan isteriku akan mengucapkan dengan penuh sukacita..

"Selamat Ulang Tahun suamiku tersayang"

Waktu berlalu dan bahkan dia tidak mengucapkan selamat pagi. Aku berpikir, ya, itulah isteri, tapi mungkin anak-anakku akan ingat kalau hari ini aku berulang tahun.

Anak-anak datang ke meja makan untuk sarapan namun mereka juga tidak mengatakan satu patah katapun. Akhirnya aku berangkat ke bilik tidur dengan perasaan penuh kecewa dan sedih.

Di pejabat, Ketika aku masuk ke pejabat, sekertariku, Janet, menyapaku "Selamat pagi Boss, Selamat Ulang Tahun"......

Dan akhirnya aku merasa sedikit terubat mengetahui ada seseorang yang mengingat hari ulang tahunku. Aku bekerja sampai tengah hari dan kemudian Janet mengetuk pintu bilikku dan berkata, Apakah tuan tidak menyadari bahwa hari ini begitu cerah di luar dan hari ini adalah hari ulang tahun tuan, mari kita pergi lunch, hanya kita berdua.

Aku berkata "Wow!", itu adalah perkataan yang luar biasa yang saya dengar hari ini, mari kita pergi.

Kami berdua pergi lunch. Kami tidak pergi ke tempat di mana kami biasanya lunch, tetapi kami pergi ke tempat yang sepi. Kami memesan 2 gelas fresh orange dan menikmati makanan tengahari kami.

Dalam perjalanan pulang ke pejabat, Janet berkata, Anda tahu ini adalah hari yang begitu indah, kita tidak perlu kembali ke pejabat kan ? "Tidak perlu, saya pikir tidak perlu" jawabku.

Lalu dia mengajak saya untuk rehat ke apartmentnya. Setelah tiba di apartmentnya, dia berkata.. Tuan, jika tuan tidak keberatan, saya akan pergi ke ruang tidur dan kemudian akan memberi sesuatu yang istimewa untuk Tuan... " "Tentu saja boleh", sahutku dengan gembira.

Dia pergi ke kamar tidur dan kira-kira enam minit kemudian dia keluar membawa kek ulang tahun yang besar diiringi oleh isteri, anak-anakku dan sejumlah rakan kerja kami sambil menyanyikan lagu Selamat Ulang Tahun ......

Aku hanya duduk terpaku di sana , Di sebuah sofa panjang, hanya memakai seluar dalam sahaja ...... malunya....

Alkisah ada Seorang ibu dengan 3 menantu dari ketiga-tiga puterinya yang cantik-cantik, sang ibu mertua ingin tahu apakah ketiga menantunya itu sayang kepada mertuanya atau cuma putrinya saja.

Dia lalu memutuskan menguji mereka secara bergantian. Suatu hari dia mengajak menantu pertama naik perahu motor ke tengah laut. Di sana dia sengaja menjatuhkan dirinya dari perahu & terlempar ke dalam air laut. Sang menantu tanpa pikir panjang langsung terjun menyelamatkan ibu mertuanya.
Besoknya ketika keluar rumah, sang menantu pertama melihat mobil Nissan Livina terparkir di depan rumah, & secarik kertas bertulisan “Dari ibu mertuamu”.

Giliran menantu ke-2 yang diajak ke tengah laut. Sekali lagi sang mertua pura-pura terjatuh & terlempar keluar perahu. Menantu kedua ini melupakan pakaian & dompetnya, langsung terjun demi menyelamatkan mertua tercinta.
Besoknya di depan rumah menantu ke-2 terparkir Toyota Alphard, disertai kertas bertuliskan “Dari ibu mertuamu”

Ketika giliran menantu ke-3 diajak ke tengah laut, sang mertua kembali melakukan gerakan terjun bebas. Tapi, malangnya kali ini sang menantu bercekak pinggang memandang ibu mertuanya yang tercungap-cungap di dalam air.
Sempat-sempatnya dia berkata, “Rasakan kau!”, sambil berputar membawa perahunya ke darat. Besok harinya ketika menantu ini keluar rumah, di depan rumahnya terparkirg Mercedes Benz S-Class terbaru beserta kertas bertuliskan, “Dari ayah mertuamu”.

3. One doubt is whether any ‘re-scooter’ is available in system? I find only ‘re-cycle’, but I own a scooter at my home.

4. There is ‘Find’ button but it is not working properly. My wife lost the door key and we tried a lot trace the key with this ‘ find’ button, but was unable to trace. Please rectify this problem.

5. My child learnt ‘Microsoft word’ now he wants to learn ‘Microsoft sentence’, so when you will provide that?

6. I brought computer, CPU, mouse and keyboard, but there is only one icon which shows ‘MY Computer’: when you will provide the remaining items?

7. It is surprising that windows says ‘MY Pictures’ but there is noteven a single photo of mine. So when will you keep my photo in that.

8. There is ‘MICROSOFT OFFICE’ what about ‘MICROSOFT HOME’ since I use the PC at home only..

Kau pergi jua ketika Kuala Lumpur sedang bersiap sedia menjadi tuan rumah Sukan Komanwel 1998.

Sesungguhnya perpisahan itu berpunca daripada penebangan pokok getah secara besar-besaran di Lembah Klang. Pemergianmu menyebabkan aku menghidap penyakit resdung dan hepatitis-Q secara mengejut. Ketiadaanmu memaksa aku memakai topi keledar setiap masa sebagai langkah keselamatan. Aku seperti tidak percaya dengan apa yang telah terjadi. Aku bagaikan tergelincir dari orbit bumi dan terpelanting ke ruang angkasa, apabila daya tarikan graviti terhadapku tiada lagi berfungsi setelahaku tersungkur dalam percintaan yang berlarutan hingga ke rubber-set. Seluruh perjalanan hidupku menjadi gelita bagaikan terperangkap di dalam gua yang gelap dan ditemani stlagit dan stlagmit yang bagai sembilu.

Kondominium cinta yang kita bina dari makgat basikal dan kipas helikopter akhirnya musnah setelah kau berpaling tadah. Ternyata sikapmu mulai berubah bila Malaysia mula melancarkan satelit MEASAT-1 ke ruang angkasa raya. Sejak itu kau sering melarikan diri bila terserempak dengan abang iparku. Akhirnya aku menyedari bahawa diri ini tidak diperlukan lagi.

Sejak kau tiada, aku sering menyendiri berbual-bual dengan pokok betik untuk mengisi masa lapang. Kadang-kadang aku mengikat botol oren pada tiang rumah agar nampak lebih cantik. Saban hari aku termenung di dalam peti sejuk mengenangkan dirimu yang entah kemana menghilang. Aku cuba bermain badminton sambil makan mi hailam untuk melupakanmu, tetapi aku tak berdaya. Lalu aku membakar mesin basuh dan membelasah empat ekor itik serati jiran sebelah sebagai tanda aku tidak bersalah.

Mengapa? Mengapa sayang? Mengapa ini semua bisa terjadi? Mengapa setelah kau curi hatiku, kau rompak cintaku lantas kau bunuh cintaku sehingga kau terbunuh dalam kemalangan cinta yang ngeri. Aku bagaikan terhimpit dan dihimpit oleh guni-guni batu yang kau timpakan di atas belakangku. Derita yang kautimpakan itu adalah bebanan yang terlalu berat untuk ku tanggung bagaikan mendukung 75 ekor biawak dan 386 ekor anak beruk. Dan kini segala harapanku hancur berkecai bagaikan aku terjatuh dari Menara Kuala Lumpur dan dihempap oleh Menara Berkembar Petronas lalu tersangkut di celah landasan LRT dan kemudiannya digilis pula keretapi Komuter hingga aku hancur berkecai. Oh! terlalu berat dugaan yang kutempuhi kini.

Kini segalanya telah pun berakhir. Aku sedar siapa aku. Aku hanya insan biasa yang suka makan mi segera. Aku bukan McGyver, McDonald's, Superman atau Kesatria Baja Hitam. Aku juga bukanlah Ultraman seperti yang kau idam-idamkan. Aku menyedari kekurangan diri dan kekurangan kemudahan awam di tempat sendiri. Tak perlu dikesali lagi kerana nasi telah menjadi capati dan tin sardin yang ku genggam ini telah pun luput tarikhnya. Segalanya sungguh mengharukan dan semua hadiah pemberianmu termasuk enjin kapal selam telah pun aku cincang untuk dibuat makanan lembu.

Walaupun segalanya telah pun berakhir, disini, diatas pokok getah ini aku tetap menunggu kau akan kembali. Selagi ada nafas ini, selagi ada kompleks membeli-belah SOGO, selagi ada kedai kasut selipar di sekitar Argentina, selagi kumpulan Metallica tidak berpecah, aku tetap menunggumu sehinggalah mentari terbelah lapan. Namun aku menyedari bahawa penantianku hanyalah sia-sia belaka. Akhirnya aku mengambil keputusan mektamad untuk menunggu tiang elektrik dihadapan rumahku berbuah. kalau tiang elektrik berbuah nanti, aku poskan buahnya kepadamu. Nak tak?

KENAPA KITA PERLU TAHU WAKTU SUBUR WANITA?

Ada 2 sebab utama :-
1. Untuk memudahkan mendapat zuriat
2. Untuk mengelakkan daripada mendapat zuriat.

Kedua-duanya adalah sama penting.
Ilmu ini mungkin boleh anda sebarkan dan digunakan secara praktikal.

MARI KITA FAHAMI KITARAN HAID WANITA
Saya cuba permudahkan sebab kitaran haid ni agak kompleks dan payah sikit nak paham. Tetapi cuba fahami. Kitaran haid wanita berlaku setiap bulan secara puratanya ialah 28-30 hari. Tapi wanita masing2 ada kitarannya sendiri ada 25 hari ada yang lambat sampai 35 hari. Tetapi secara puratanya ialah 28-30 hari.

Terdapat beberapa fasa di dalam kitaran haid.
Anda perlu memahami fasa ini.

Hari 1-4
Ini dipanggil fasa pengeluaran haid (menstruation) - ketika ini darah haid keluar. Hari pertama period adalah penting untuk diketahui kerana ia adalah di mana fasa ini bermula. Pada hari pertama haid datang, ia perlu ditanda di kalendar dan tamat selepas berapa hari. Sebaik-baiknya ditanda setiap bulan sekiranya anda ingin merancang untuk mengandung. Anda boleh mengagak kitaran period anda beberapa hari di dalam sebulan.

Hari 5-13
Ini dipanggil fasa follicular. Pada fasa ini, hormon estrogen meningkat. Ketika fasa follicular ini, darah akan berkumpul di dinding rahim dan menebal untuk persediaan mengandung. Di kawasan ovari pula, telur yang berada di dalam bekasnya akan menjadi semakin matang.

Hari 14
Waktu inilah satu proses peneluran yang dipanggil ovulasi berlaku. Telur akan terkeluar daripada sarangnya disebabkan oleh peningkatan mendadak sejenis hormon yang dipanggil Luteinizing Hormone (LH). Telur ini sekiranya tidak disenyawakan oleh sperma akan mati dan hilang. Sekiranya ia disenyawakan, ia akan turun melalu saluran falopio ke rahim.

Hari 15-28
Ini dipanggil fasa luteal atau fasa secretory. Selepas telur dikeluarkan dari sarangnya, sejenis hormone dipanggil progestrone di rembes daripada sarangnya (corpus luteum). Ini menyebabkan dinding rahim semakin menebal. Setelah progestrone semakin berkurang kerana tiada persenyawaan berlaku, maka dinding ini akan runtuh sebagaimana runtuhnya tembok Berlin. Proses akan mengalami kitaran semula pada hari 1.

BILAKAH WAKTU SUBUR?

Setelah anda faham kitaran haid di atas, waktu yang terbaik untuk bersama suami-isteri ialah pada hari ovulasi berlaku. Ini adalah kerana ketika itu telur baru sahaja keluar daripada sarangnya.

Bilakah secara tepat ia berlaku? Sebenarnya ia adalah lebih kurang 14 hari daripada hari pertama period seterusnya atau ketika fasa luteal bermula.
** (14 days from the 1st day of your NEXT period - NOT your previous period)

Tak faham? Macam ni. Katalah dia period 28 hari, maka hari subur ialah 28 hari - 14 hari = 14 hari. Jadi, hari ke 14 itu adalah hari subur. Katalah period bulan itu 30 hari, maka 30 hari - 14 hari = hari ke 16 ialah hari subur bukan lagi hari ke 14. Sekiranya periodnya 35 hari maka 35-14 = hari ke 21 adalah waktu suburnya.

Ini adalah kerana fasa luteal pada kiraanya adalah biasanya tepat 14 hari setelah berlakunya ovulasi, sedangkan fasa folicullar boleh berubah2. Jadi waktu subur adalah 14 hari sebelum hari pertama period yang seterusnya. Sekiranya period anda adalah tetap 28 hari, tak jadi masalah untuk mengira waktu subur anda. Sekiranya period anda berubah-ubah, inilah timbulnya masalah mengira waktu subur.

CARA LAIN MENGETAHUI WAKTU SUBUR

Pada waktu subur, suhu badan wanita akan naik sedikit dalam satu darjah celcius. Juga terdapat lendiran cecair yang jernih daripada kemaluan. ini adalah disebabkan hormon yang meningkat ketika itu. Di Amerika terdapat kit untuk mengetahui kesuburan wanita melalui air kencing wanita tapi saya tak pernah jumpa lagi di klinik2 di K.Lumpur.

MENGANGGAR WAKTU TERBAIK UNTUK MENDAPAT ZURIAT

Oleh kerana telur atau ovum tidak mempunyai jangka hayat yang panjang, iaitu dalam lingkungan 1-2 hari sahaja, maka tingkap untuk mendapatkan zuriat adalah sangat terhad. Oleh itu Allah mencipta sperma dengan kelebihan yang lain pula.

Selain daripada berjuta-juta sperma dilepaskan (setiap seorang lelaki adalah jutawan!), ia juga boleh bertahan selama 3-5 hari. Ini bermakna, sekiranya suami isteri bersama 3 hari sebelum waktu subur, atau 2 hari selepas waktu subur, maka ada peluang untuk telur itu berjumpa dengan sperma yang hidup lebih lama.

Oleh itu, untuk mendapatkan zuriat, pasangan boleh bersama setiap malam (atau siang hari kecuali pada bulan Ramadhan) pada hari ke 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 period untuk mendapatkan waktu optimum hari kesuburan sekiranya period anda datang 28 hari. Itu adalah menganggarkan waktu subur adalah pada hari ke 14.

Anda boleh cuba setiap bulan untuk beberapa bulan sekiranya tidak berhasil. Ini adalah untuk memastikan waktu subur adalah sesuai dengan waktu bersama anda.

MENGELAKKAN MENGANDUNG MELALUI CARA KIRAAN

Selain daripada untuk mendapatkan zuriat, ada pasangan yang ingin mengelakkan mengandung dengan cara mengira kalendar.

Untuk pengetahuan anda, cara mengira melalui kalendar adalah berisiko dan tidak beberapa tepat. Ini adalah kerana anda mungkin boleh tersilap kira, atau kedatangan haid yang tidak beberapa teratur menyebabkan tarikh subur lari dari kebiasaan.

Oleh kerana anda tahu sperma boleh bertahan selama 5 hari di dalam rahim (ada kajian menunjukkan 7 hari !), jadi 5 hari sebelum dan selepas hari kesuburan adalah waktu yang dianggarkan tidak boleh bersama isteri ataupun terpaksa menggunakan cara kontraseptif yang lain.

Ada juga yang meletakkan 3 hari sebelum dan selepas waktu subur. Ini lebih rapat dan lebih berisiko. Terpulang kepada anda sendiri. Seperti yang saya khabarkan tadi, cara ini tidak beberapa tepat dan mempunyai risiko yang tersendiri.

The Hotspring In The Heart Of Borneo

100 KM from Sipitang Town, close to the border of Sarawak and Indonesia Kalimantan are the villages of the Borneo indigenous people, the Lundayeh. The Merarap Hotspring is situated in their area.

The gravel road is owned by the timer logging company. The so called "Jalan Mecedes" road is well maintained. This is because the logging trucks are Mecedes and are very expensive to maintain. Hence it makes sense to run them on a very smooth surface road. However, certain driving skill is needed when driving on this road because in this area, the timber truck has previlages on the road. Always follow the "Arrow" signboards and you should be safe. Big 4WD vehicle is recommended on this road.
The Hotsprings are very impressive. They are located just meters away on the steep rocky and rapid river bank. All in all about 10 of them. One even flows with a very substaintial volume. The hot water is piped very close to the resort lodge to a few man-made pools.

The Merarap Hotspring Lodge started operation in 2004. It has 10 rooms. 5 family rooms on the first floor and 5 triplet on the ground floor, all with attached bathroom. There are 5 open air pools and 3 enclosed pools. The lodge sits on the rocky river bank. You can have your coffee on the deck listening and viewing the river thundering pass barely 5 meters below.

The Resort has round the clock electrical supply. Thanks to the ingenuity of the owner, who installed a DIY micro hydro generator.

3 Ways to Install Linux on Windows

1. Linux on a ‘Live Disk’

Each distribution can now be downloaded as a ‘Live Disk‘, a disk which will run Linux straight from the CD as if it were an installed operating system.

This is perhaps the best way you can try Linux for the first time as it allows you to play around with the OS without having to worry about your data, or partitioning or screwing something up.

The disadvantage is that the OS will run fairly slowly and you will not get much idea of the performance or flexibility of Linux.

Live disks are included with every Linux distribution, and are also provided on the cover of just about any computing and PC magazine. Looking over at my shelf I can see Ubuntu, OpenSUSE, gOS Rocket and Linux Mint on the cover disks of several magazines.

2. Run Linux using Virtual PC

Again, this is just another way to have a bit of a look and play around with Linux in a contained area with no danger of destroying your computer or anything. Microsoft provides Virtual PC 2007 as a free download and can run most distros, although you will perhaps need to find some fairly simple workaround’s for a few.

Again, the disadvantage is performance, both for the Virtual Machine and the host machine which has to lend system resources. The advantage I guess is that you will not have to burn an actual disk in order to try Linux out – the virtual machine can simply mount an ISO file.

3. Install Ubuntu using the Wubi installer

Lastly you can try Linux, Ubuntu specifically, using a special installer called ‘Wubi’. Mackenzie covered Wubi in detail here. Blake also briefly mentioned it in his article here.

Wubi installs Ubuntu as a file on your Windows System. It can be uninstalled like any other program and runs as if you were using a separate system partition. The only disadvantage is that hibernation mode does not work.

The set-up is laughably simple; all you have to do is get Wubi from here and start it up. Wubi is actually included in Ubuntu as of version 8.04 and is an installation option when using a Live disk.

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based navigation system made up of a network of 24 satellites placed into orbit by the U.S. Department of Defense. GPS was originally intended for military applications, but in the 1980s, the government made the system available for civilian use. GPS works in any weather conditions, anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day. There are no subscription fees or setup charges to use GPS.

How it works

GPS satellites circle the earth twice a day in a very precise orbit and transmit signal information to earth. GPS receivers take this information and use triangulation to calculate the user's exact location. Essentially, the GPS receiver compares the time a signal was transmitted by a satellite with the time it was received. The time difference tells the GPS receiver how far away the satellite is. Now, with distance measurements from a few more satellites, the receiver can determine the user's position and display it on the unit's electronic map.

A GPS receiver must be locked on to the signal of at least three satellites to calculate a 2D position (latitude and longitude) and track movement. With four or more satellites in view, the receiver can determine the user's 3D position (latitude, longitude and altitude). Once the user's position has been determined, the GPS unit can calculate other information, such as speed, bearing, track, trip distance, distance to destination, sunrise and sunset time and more.

How accurate is GPS?

Today's GPS receivers are extremely accurate, thanks to their parallel multi-channel design. Garmin's 12 parallel channel receivers are quick to lock onto satellites when first turned on and they maintain strong locks, even in dense foliage or urban settings with tall buildings. Certain atmospheric factors and other sources of error can affect the accuracy of GPS receivers. Garmin® GPS receivers are accurate to within 15 meters on average.

Newer Garmin GPS receivers with WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System) capability can improve accuracy to less than three meters on average. No additional equipment or fees are required to take advantage of WAAS. Users can also get better accuracy with Differential GPS (DGPS), which corrects GPS signals to within an average of three to five meters. The U.S. Coast Guard operates the most common DGPS correction service. This system consists of a network of towers that receive GPS signals and transmit a corrected signal by beacon transmitters. In order to get the corrected signal, users must have a differential beacon receiver and beacon antenna in addition to their GPS.

The GPS satellite system

The 24 satellites that make up the GPS space segment are orbiting the earth about 12,000 miles above us. They are constantly moving, making two complete orbits in less than 24 hours. These satellites are travelling at speeds of roughly 7,000 miles an hour.

GPS satellites are powered by solar energy. They have backup batteries onboard to keep them running in the event of a solar eclipse, when there's no solar power. Small rocket boosters on each satellite keep them flying in the correct path.

Here are some other interesting facts about the GPS satellites (also called NAVSTAR, the official U.S. Department of Defense name for GPS):

The first GPS satellite was launched in 1978.
A full constellation of 24 satellites was achieved in 1994.
Each satellite is built to last about 10 years. Replacements are constantly being built and launched into orbit.
A GPS satellite weighs approximately 2,000 pounds and is about 17 feet across with the solar panels extended.
Transmitter power is only 50 watts or less.

What's the signal?

GPS satellites transmit two low power radio signals, designated L1 and L2. Civilian GPS uses the L1 frequency of 1575.42 MHz in the UHF band. The signals travel by line of sight, meaning they will pass through clouds, glass and plastic but will not go through most solid objects such as buildings and mountains.

A GPS signal contains three different bits of information — a pseudorandom code, ephemeris data and almanac data. The pseudorandom code is simply an I.D. code that identifies which satellite is transmitting information. You can view this number on your Garmin GPS unit's satellite page, as it identifies which satellites it's receiving.

Ephemeris data tells the GPS receiver where each GPS satellite should be at any time throughout the day. Each satellite transmits ephemeris data showing the orbital information for that satellite and for every other satellite in the system.

Almanac data, which is constantly transmitted by each satellite, contains important information about the status of the satellite (healthy or unhealthy), current date and time. This part of the signal is essential for determining a position.

Sources of GPS signal errors

Factors that can degrade the GPS signal and thus affect accuracy include the following:

Ionosphere and troposphere delays — The satellite signal slows as it passes through the atmosphere. The GPS system uses a built-in model that calculates an average amount of delay to partially correct for this type of error.
Signal multipath — This occurs when the GPS signal is reflected off objects such as tall buildings or large rock surfaces before it reaches the receiver. This increases the travel time of the signal, thereby causing errors.
Receiver clock errors — A receiver's built-in clock is not as accurate as the atomic clocks onboard the GPS satellites. Therefore, it may have very slight timing errors.
Orbital errors — Also known as ephemeris errors, these are inaccuracies of the satellite's reported location.
Number of satellites visible — The more satellites a GPS receiver can "see," the better the accuracy. Buildings, terrain, electronic interference, or sometimes even dense foliage can block signal reception, causing position errors or possibly no position reading at all. GPS units typically will not work indoors, underwater or underground.
Satellite geometry/shading — This refers to the relative position of the satellites at any given time. Ideal satellite geometry exists when the satellites are located at wide angles relative to each other. Poor geometry results when the satellites are located in a line or in a tight grouping.
Intentional degradation of the satellite signal — Selective Availability (SA) is an intentional degradation of the signal once imposed by the U.S. Department of Defense. SA was intended to prevent military adversaries from using the highly accurate GPS signals. The government turned off SA in May 2000, which significantly improved the accuracy of civilian GPS receivers.

LINUX vs. WINDOWS

From my research, there is to many comparison of Linux and Windows. It can serve as an introduction to Linux for Windows users. Here I list down some of the comparison :

1)Flavors

Both Windows and Linux come in many flavors. All the flavors of Windows come from Microsoft, the various distributions of Linux come from different companies (i.e. Linspire, Red Hat, SuSE, Ubuntu, Xandros, Knoppix, Slackware, Lycoris, etc. ).

Windows has two main lines. The older flavors are referred to as "Win9x" and consist of Windows 95, 98, 98SE and Me. The newer flavors are referred to as "NT class" and consist of Windows NT3, NT4, 2000, XP and Vista. Going back in time, Windows 3.x preceded Windows 95 by a few years. And before that, there were earlier versons of Windows, but they were not popular. Microsoft no longer supports Windows NT3, NT4, all the 9x versions and of course anything older. Support for Windows 2000 is partial (as of April 2007).

The flavors of Linux are referred to as distributions (often shortened to "distros"). All the Linux distributions released around the same time frame will use the same kernel (the guts of the Operating System). They differ in the add-on software provided, GUI, install process, price, documentation and technical support. Both Linux and Windows come in desktop and server editions.

There may be too many distributions of Linux, it's possible that this is hurting Linux in the marketplace. It could be that the lack of a Linux distro from a major computer company is also hurting it in the marketplace. IBM is a big Linux backer but does not have their own branded distribution. Currently there seem to be many nice things said about the Ubuntu distribution.

Linux is customizable in a way that Windows is not. For one, the user interface, while similar in concept, varies in detail from distribution to distribution. For example, the task bar may default to being on the top or the bottom. Also, there are many special purpose versions of Linux above and beyond the full blown distributions described above. For example, NASLite is a version of Linux that runs off a single floppy disk (since revised to also boot from a CD) and converts an old computer into a file server. This ultra small edition of Linux is capable of networking, file sharing and being a web server.

2) Graphical User Interface

Both Linux and Windows provide a GUI and a command line interface. The Windows GUI has changed from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95 (drastically) to Windows 2000 (slightly) to Windows XP (fairly large) and is slated to change again with the next version of Windows, the one that will replace XP. Windows XP has a themes feature that offers some customization of the look and feel of the GUI.

Linux typically provides two GUIs, KDE and Gnome. See a screen shot of Lycoris and Lindows in action from the Wal-Mart web site. The lynucs.org web site has examples of many substantially different Linux GUIs. Of the major Linux distributions, Lindows has made their user interface look more like Windows than the others. Here is a screen shot of Linux made to look like Windows XP. Then too, there is XPde for Linux which really makes Linux look like Windows. Quoting their web site "It's a desktop environment (XPde) and a window manager (XPwm) for Linux. It tries to make easier for Windows XP users to use a Linux box."

Mark Minasi makes the point (Windows and .NET magazine, March 2000) that the Linux GUI is optional while the Windows GUI is an integral component of the OS. He says that speed, efficiency and reliability are all increased by running a server instance of Linux without a GUI, something that server versions of Windows can not do. In the same article he points out that the detached nature of the Linux GUI makes remote control and remote administration of a Linux computer simpler and more natural than a Windows computer.

3)Text Mode Interface

This is also known as a command interpreter. Windows users sometimes call it a DOS prompt. Linux users refer to it as a shell. Each version of Windows has a single command interpreter, but the different flavors of Windows have different interpreters. In general, the command interpreters in the Windows 9x series are very similar to each other and the NT class versions of Windows (NT, 2000, XP) also have similar command interpreters. There are however differences between a Windows 9x command interpreter and one in an NT class flavor of Windows. Linux, like all versions of Unix, supports multiple command interpreters, but it usually uses one called BASH (Bourne Again Shell). Others are the Korn shell, the Bourne shell, ash and the C shell (pun, no doubt, intended).

4)Security

Linux [has] ... the notion of an administrative (root) user that maintains and operates the system, and desktop users who only run the software on the system, is completely ingrained in most Linux distributions. Now it’s true that many Linux users ignore these features and run all their software from a root-level account anyway, but that’s a choice that they’ve made. The system defaults to protecting the operating system components from its user’s actions (intentional or otherwise). That feature alone must account in large degree for the dearth of viruses and other malicious vermin on Linux and UNIX platforms. Windows, on the other hand, started life as a single user system, with that single user being all-powerful. Set Up RADIUS on Windows 2000

Here is a few step to set up RADIUS on Windows 2000 so you can autheticate wireless clients.

Requirements:

Windows 2000 with Active Directory (latest service pack)
Certificate server
IAS server
Access point with 802.1X capability, the following were used in this guide
- Linksys BEFW11S4
- D-link DI-824vup
Windows 2000 or Windows XP client with a wireless adapter (latest service pack)

Windows 2000 Radius server setup:

Make sure Active Directory and DNS are configured properly

Install the IAS and certificate server components from add/remove programs

After the IAS and certificate server components has been installed successfully. Setup the server as CA root and register the IAS server with Active Directory.

For help on setting up the certificate server for automatic certificate allocation:

Click Start, and then click Help
Click the Search tab, type the following text, and then click List Topics :

In the Select topic list, click Configure automatic certificate allocation from an enterprise CA , and then click Display

To register the Radius sever:

Right click the RADIUS server and select the "Register in Active Directory" option.

Click ok when you see this message

Next right click the clients option and select create new client.

Click Verify to make sure its the correct IP
Client Vendor: Radius Standard
Check the "client must always send signature attribute in the request" box
Enter a secret key that will be exchanged between the access point and server

Edit the remote policy to include Extensible Authentication Protocol on the Authentication tab
Also add the group that you want to allow wireless access

Changing the user properties in Active Directory:

Give the user dial in permissions, or create a group and add the users to that group
Change domain mode to native to enable the Remote Access Policy option

Radius client setup:

D-link access point configuration:

Enable 802.1X
Encryption :enabled
Server: W2k Radius IP
Port : 1812
Radius secret : same as Radius server
WEP enabled (optional)

Linksys access point configuration:

Wireless security : Enabled
Security mode: Radius
Radius Servers address: W2k Radius IP
Port : 1812
Shared Key: same as Radius server
Wireless encryption type : 64bits 10HEX

Note: Once the Radius Server and clients are setup, stop and start the IAS service and reboot the access point.

Wireless client setup:

Select the "wireless networks" tab from wireless network properties
Highlight the access point in the available networks and click configure
On the "association tab" change the network authentication to "Open"
Data Encryption: WEP
If WEP was enabled on the router and a KEY was set then enter the Key here
if a WEP key was not specified on the access point then, check the "key is provided for me" option

Authentication tab

Enable IEEE 802.1x
EAP type: Select protected EAP (PEAP)

Click the properties button
Authentication Method: Secured password (EAP-MSCHAPv2)
Click the configure button
Uncheck the windows logon name and password box

Right click the wireless icon and select the "View available wireless networks" option
Select the wireless network and check the 802.1x box
then click connect (a WEP key may be needed if set on the access point)

A username and password screen will appear

Enter the domain username and password and click logon

Once connected the wireless icon will change

Problems that may occur while trying to connect:

Event ID : 2

If a problem occurs while trying to connect, check the application log on the server:
Make sure the correct domain credentials are provided

(This screen indicates incorrect credentials)

Make sure the user account has dial in permissions set to "Allow"
Uncheck the windows logon name and password box. As shown above in red text

Check the connection between the Radius server and the access point
Check the client information on the IAS server

Remote Desktop Connection and RDP port forwarding

Remote Desktop Protocol: RDP is a protocol developed by Microsoft, to provide a user with a graphical interface to another computer. It is one type of application sharing protocol. In widows Xp and windows vista, RDP is pre-installed as Remote desktop connection.

Microsoft RDP includes the following features:

Encryption
Bandwidth reduction features
Roaming disconnect
Clipboard mapping
Print redirection
Virtual channels
Remote control
Network load balancing

The default port used for remote desktop protocol is port 3389. Now, if you are trying to use the Remote desktop feature of windows and are hosting your remote desktop pc from behind a router, you will require opening a port in your router for forwarding. Otherwise you can not remotely access your pc from another pc from the internet.

So what you can do is open the router configuration page. Specify another external port number and then point that port to the 3398(Default port for RDP) on the IP address of the computer that you wanted to access.

Another workaround is to change the listening port for remote desktop.

How to change the listening port for Remote Desktop

Following is the list of steps to follow to change (remote desktop protocol) RDP port:
This list includes steps that tell you to modify registry, but serious problem may occur if you do not modify registry correctly. For novice user it is better to take backup of the registry before applying following changes.

Start Registry Editor. ( Use windows Run : type command ‘regedit’)
Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\TerminalServer\WinStations\RDP-Tcp\PortNumber
From the edit menu, click on the modify link and then select decimal type for value.
You can enter here the new port number and then click OK.
Exit the Registry Editor.

Note: After going through the above list of steps, when you try to connect to this computer by using Remote Desktop Connection, you must enter the new port.

The main reason behind changing the RDP listening port is security. Since everyone knows that 3389 is default port for RDP. So anonymous user can check that port to find if you have Remote desktop enabled and can potentially attack on your network.

GIANT STINGRAY PICTURE: Largest Freshwater Fish?

Fishers and scientists announced this week the catch, and release, of what is likely the world's largest known freshwater giant stingray

The giant stingray, weighing an estimated 550 to 990 pounds (250 to 450 kilograms) was reeled in on January 28, 2009, as part of a National Geographic expedition in Thailand.

The stingray's body measured 6.6 feet (2 meters) wide by 6.9 feet (2.1) meters long. The tail was missing. If it had been there, the ray's total length would have been between 14.8 and 16.4 feet (4.5 and 5 meters), estimated University of Nevada Biologist Zeb Hogan.

Hogan was in Thailand searching for giant fish as part of the Megafishes Project—an effort to document Earth's 20 or so freshwater giants.

The new find gives Hogan hope that the giant stingray, once overfished, may be more abundant than previously thought. And it may confirm the giant stingray as the heavyweight champ of the Megafishes Project.

"Honestly, we just don't know how much it weighed. But it's clear that the giant stingray has the potential to be the largest freshwater fish in the world," said Hogan, also a National Geographic Emerging Explorer. (National Geographic News is owned by the National Geographic Society.)

"The Thai populations were once considered critically endangered, although with the discovery of new populations the stingray's abundance appears higher than previously believed," added Hogan. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) currently lists the freshwater giant stingray as vulnerable.

Last March Hogan found a 14-foot-long (4.3-meter-long) ray near the Thai city of Chachoengsao. (See previous giant stingray news and video.)

Freshwater giant stingrays are among the largest of the approximately 200 species of rays. They can be found in a handful of rivers in Southeast Asia and northern Australia.

Much is still unknown about the mammoth ray species, including whether or not it can swim out to and survive at sea. The species was first described scientifically only in 1989.

Hogan and his colleagues are still looking for new varieties and populations of the giant stingray.

How To Promote Your Blog Using Facebook Pages

One of the more effective ways of promoting your blog is to use a site everyone either loves or hates – Facebook. The social networking site allows you to create a page to promote your blog or business – and it’s completely free. MakeUseOf has one and it’s doing very well.

By having a Facebook page for your blog, you can set up your RSS feed so your new posts appear on your fan page. Facebook members can then become a “fan” of your posts and comment on your posts inside Facebook.

In short, you can:

create a mini community of loyal blog readers inside Facebook.
encourage them to click through to your blog and sign up for the proper RSS feed.

So, are you interested in getting your page set up? If so, here’s how to get it set up quickly.

1. Sign up on Facebook

First you have to have a free Facebook account. If not then go here and set one up.

2. Click zee link

Then click on this link to get your fan page going. Here is the page that will then appear :

If you are creating a page for a blog / website, you will need to choose “Brand, Product or Organization”. Then from the drop-down list, select “website”.

Enter the name of your site (or whatever you want your page to be called) in “Name Of Other Business”, tick “I am authorized to create this page” (assuming of course you ARE authorized), enter your name under “Electronic Signature” and then click “Create Page”.

3. Customize Your Page

Your page will now be set up and you will be taken straight there.

Here are some of the things you can do to customize your page :

Customize your image :

The first thing your page obviously needs is an image. For blogs, the obvious image to first consider is your logo.

To upload an image, just point your mouse to the image area and a menu will pop up with various options.

You can either upload a photo, take a picture with your webcam or choose from a Facebook album.

Customize your site information :

In the “Info” tab, you can type detailed information about your site such as the URL, the “overview” (so this would be a good place to enter any tagline or motto that your site has. MakeUseOf’s is “Cool Websites, Software and Internet Tips”).

You can also enter information such as when you started the site and if you have any “products” you’d like to talk about.

Set up your blog RSS feed to show your new posts in Facebook

This is, I think, one of the most important aspects of a blog fan page. If you are unable to show your new posts, how can you possibly persuade people to come to your site and sign up for the RSS feed?

First, click on the “notes” tab at the top of the page.

Select “Import A Blog” in the Notes Setting section. You can only import from 1 RSS feed at a time. Simply “Stop Importing” if you want to change the RSS feed.

Enter the RSS URL in the box provided. Check the box next to the statement that you actually own the content. You cannot import RSS feeds from websites that are not your own or that you do not have permission to reproduce.

Click the “Start Importing” button. Facebook will import the content of the RSS feed for you to preview. If everything looks OK, then go ahead and press the “Continue” button. Your RSS feed will now be automatically imported into your “Notes” section.
After that, everytime you publish a post on your blog, a summary of the post along with a link will appear on your Facebook page.

4. Publicise Your Page

Now that your Facebook page is all set up, all that remains to be done is to publicise it to your readers so they can “fan” you. Some methods to get the word out there include :

Writing a blog post about your new Facebook page (don’t forget to link to it).
Putting a prominent link at the top of your blog or in the sidebar. Just grab a Facebook logo from Google Images and then link it to your page.
Sending out an email to all your Facebook friends and telling them about your new fan page. If they were interested enough to become Facebook friends with you, I’m sure they will be interested in your blog too.

How To Configure Folder Redirection

Introduction

Folder redirection can limit the amount of data that is copied between the Roaming Profile Share and the Terminal Server at each logon and logoff. This is accomplished by redirecting folders like Desktop, My Documents, and Application Data to a Network Share outside of the Roaming Profile Share, so it is not copied at each logon and logoff.

Folder redirection can also provide locked down Desktop and Start Menu Folders by redirecting to Network Shares from which the end users can only read, or it can be set up so users' individual Start Menu and Desktop folders reside on a File Share instead of being copied back and forth with the rest of the roaming profile. This reduces the amount of data being transferred at each logon/logoff and provides a more stable environment for users that log on to multiple terminal server sessions at the same time. This is because there is no risk of data loss by one copy of the roaming profile’s Desktop Folder overwriting a previously saved copy, as they are always referring to the directory on the file share, not to a local profile folder.

Terminal Server Group Policy Best Practice

Before we dig into configuring Folder Redirection, let’s review how to configure Group Policies for use with Terminal Services. Best Practice for applying Settings to Users only when they log on to Terminal Servers would be to:

Create an OU to contain a set of Terminal Servers
Block Policy Inheritance on the OU (Properties -> Group Policy). This prevents settings from higher-up in AD from affecting your Terminal Servers.
Move the Terminal Server Computer Objects into the OU. Do NOT place User Accounts in this OU.
Create an Active Directory Security Group called “Terminal Servers” (or something similar that you’ll recognize) and add the Terminal Servers from this OU to this group.
Create a GPO called “TS Machine Policy” linked to the OU
Check “Disable User Configuration settings” on the GPO
Enable Loopback Policy Processing in the GPO
Edit the Security of the Policy so Apply Policy is set for “Authenticated Users” and the Security Group containing the Terminal Servers
Create additional GPOs linked to this OU for each user population, i.e. “TS Users”, “TS Administrators”.
Check “Disable Computer Configuration settings” on these GPO
Edit the Security on these User Configuration GPOs so Apply Policy is enabled for the target user population, and Deny Apply Policy is enabled for user to which the policy should not apply.

With GPOs configured this way the Machine Policy applies to everyone that logs on to the Terminal Server (only the Computer Configuration Settings of the Machine Policy are processed) in addition to the appropriate User Configuration GPO (only the User Configuration portion of the GPO is processed) for the target user population.

Folder Redirection GPO Settings

Since Folder Redirection is in the User Configuration portion of a GPO, one can create multiple different policies and apply one to each distinct user population by filtering the security settings in the properties of the GPO. This allows administrators to redirect some users' folders to pre-configured directories, that the users do not have sufficient NTFS Permission to alter, and to redirect other users to folders that are self maintained.

Folder Redirection settings are located in User Configuration-> Windows Settings -> Folder Redirections. In that node one will find:

To configure an item, right-click and select “Properties”. This exposes the configuration UI for the specified folder. In a single GPO one can either configure the folder to redirect to a specified location for all users to which the GPO applies, or one can configure the folder to redirect to a specified location based upon group membership.

NTFS and Share Permissions

For folder redirection to work properly, the destination shared folder NTFS and Share Permissions must be properly configured. If redirecting a folder to a location that the end user should not change, i.e. the Start Menu or Locked Down Desktop the following permissions should be applied:

Share Permissions:
- Everyone – Full Control
- Administrators – Full Control
- System – Full Control
NTFS Permissions:
- Everyone – Read and Execute
- Administrators – Full Control
- System – Full Control

If Group Policy is configured to redirect to a location where the GPO will automatically create the destination folder, i.e. user’s individual Application Data, Desktop or My Documents folders the following permissions should be applied to the parent folder:

Share Permissions:
- Everyone – Full Control
- Administrators – Full Control
- System – Full Control
NTFS Permissions:
- Everyone - Create Folder/Append Data (This Folder Only)
- Everyone - List Folder/Read Data (This Folder Only)
- Everyone - Read Attributes (This Folder Only)
- Everyone - Traverse Folder/Execute File (This Folder Only)
- CREATOR OWNER - Full Control (Subfolders and Files Only)
- System - Full Control (This Folder, Subfolders and Files)
- Domain Admins - Full Control (This Folder, Subfolders and Files)

It’s important to note that when redirecting folders such as My Documents to a location that already exists, i.e. the User’s Home Folder there is another setting to consider, ownership. If the user is not the owner of the destination directory, folder redirection will fail with the default Folder Redirection settings. When this is the case, one must deselect “Grant the user exclusive rights to My Documents”

If this is not configured, folder redirection will fail and the following will be written to the Terminal Server’s Event Log:

Event ID: 101
User: username
Computer: computername
Description:
Failed to perform redirection of folder foldername. The new directories for the redirected folder could not be created. The folder is configured to be redirected to \\servername\sharename\%username%, the final expanded path was \\servername\sharename\username. The following error occurred:
Access is denied.

Notes:

User Configuration Settings in Group Policy take effect upon the first logon after the policy is saved and replicated to the user’s logon server.
Computer Configuration Settings in Group Policy take effect when the machine boots and logs on to Active Directory. With this in mind, one needs to reboot a terminal server before Computer Configuration setting changes will be applied.
Folder Redirection does not exist in Local Policy. If one wants to redirect folders without using Active Directory they should investigate redirecting folders by editing the registry at:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders]
If redirecting the Start Menu, one should be aware that “by default” users right clicking on Start Button to Explore will explore starting at the redirected folder’s network location, even if you have restricted access to My Network Places. To avoid this, one can edit the following registry entry:

Folder Redirection is a powerful and fairly flexible set of configuration settings in group policy. As with anything in Group Policy, settings should be tested in a controlled environment, and piloted with a small set of users before deploying to a production environment.

Stretch of hilly road at Minintod collapse

A portion of the Kolam-Minintod Road, near Bukit Padang here, caved in after the hill on which the stretch stood collapsed, Thursday.

Cracks were seen at the stretch as early as 7am by a maintenance team from Globinaco Sdn Bhd and the road caved in eight hours later at about 3pm, causing a ridge stretching about 150ft long.

A Public Works Department (PWD) team had gone to the site after being alerted by Globinaco contractors and sealed the cracks with canvas, allowing only one side of the road to be used.

However, the PWD team later decided it was too risky to allow traffic to go through, as the cracks widened, and closed the road completely at about 1pm.

Motorists who normally used the stretch to reach Inanam or Penampang have been advised to use alternative routes, preferrably from Jalan Datuk Panglima Banting or Jalan Kiansom Minintod.

Those who frequent the road generally are either headed to Kg Kibabaig, Kg Kasigui and Jalan Datuk Panglima Banting in Penampang, or KK Tzer Ying Buddhist Temple, Kg Bambangan, Kg Bantayan, Kg Minotun and Country Heights Apartments in Inanam.

A PWD senior officer said they were thinking of building an access not far from the collapsed road but must consider several details first before proceeding, adding such works would take at least one or two weeks to complete.

Meanwhile, MP Dr Hiew King Cheu believes the incident could have been avoided as it could not have happened overnight.

Looking at the underground water outlet beneath the stretch, he suspected the pipe could have been damaged, causing it being unable to channel water away from the hill.

"The PWD should always check this carefully. Now, millions of Ringgit would have to be spent to fix the road, which in fact is the people's money," he said.

He also failed to understand how the mishap could not be averted, pointing out there were enough funds sourced for road maintenance in Sabah.

As much time as most women spend trying to keep from getting pregnant throughout their lives, it sometimes seems that for any woman who is sexually active, pregnancy is the default condition.

Pregnancy sneaks up on millions of women every month: pregnancy has been known to occur during one’s period, while still nursing an infant, when a partner has had a vasectomy, and when women are on the Pill. Hormones, sponges, creams, foams and various latex and non-latex products have been pressed into use by women who aren’t at a stage in life where they want children. It’s only when we start wanting to have children that we learn that pregnancy sometimes takes as much planning as childlessness did before.

It may be that the hectic nature of daily life has changed considerably from the time when, eons ago, all you needed was enough to eat and enough shelter to keep alive.

In fact, the nature of nature is to make us as fertile as possible under a wide variety of circumstances. Step 1: Open your photo in Photoshop. Go to Image > Adjustments > Curves (Ctrl + M) to go to Curves dialog box. Set something like the picture below:

Step 2: Press Ctrl-B to open Color Balance

Step 3: Increase green of the leaves by pressing Ctrl-U and choose Green from the drop-down box

Now our photo looks much brighter

Step 4: Go to Image > Adjustments > Levels

Step 5: We will make her skin smoother. Go to Select > Color Range and click on any point on her skin to sample it

Step 6: Go to Filter > Blur > Surface Blur

And here is my final result, the picture looks brighter and more attractive:

Configure Radius Authentication for SSH login Centos 5.2 Linux

Using the plug-in modular nature of PAM we can get a linux server to use RADIUS to authenticate users connecting via SSH. This guide tells you how to setup a Centos 5.2 server as your Radius "client" and Juniper Steel-Belted as your radius server authentication "server". We are going to use the pam_radius_module from free radius to provide the mechanism of authenticating ssh logins against a radius box.

For this example my environment consists of

A centos 5.2 radius client called "cyclone"
A Steel-Belted Radius server is called "turbo"
A username of dave

Of course you will change these silly names to the hostnames or ip addresses that suit your own setup.

Preparation

We have to to build a radius client module for our centos linux server so some preperation is required on this box to enable us to do that. It isn't as complex as it sounds.

1. Install the correct development tools

Since the pam_radius_auth security module is not available in mighty yum repository we have to make this ourselves using the source files. To do this we need the correct C compiler this can be installed via yum using the following command

yum install gcc-c++

After a little while the C compiler will be installed an ready for use. The next requirement is the pam development module. This is also installed via yum with this command:

yum install pam-devel

2. Download the pam Radius source files.

You need to download the radius pam module here ftp://ftp.freeradius.org/pub/radius/

Choose the file pam_radius-1.3.17.tar.gz

This is done easily via the wget command. So from the centos machine run

wget ftp://ftp.freeradius.org/pub/radius/pam_radius-1.3.17.tar.gz

download this to a temporary folder where you can build the software from

I chose a directory called pam under my root users home directory

/root/pam

Once the file is downloaded unzip the file with gunzip

using the command

gunzip /root/pam/pam_radius-1.3.17.tar.gz

untar the file using the command

tar -xvf /root/pam/pam_radius-1.3.17.tar

this should then upack the contents into a directory structure like this

/root/pam/pam_radius-1.3.17

change to this directory and type

make

the system should then compile with something like the following output:

copy this to the /lib/security/ folder.

Configure the Centos Server to use radius Authentication

1. Create a user you wish to login as on the centos system I am creating one called "dave" fo this example.
useradd -d /home/dave/ dave

NOTE: There is no reason to set a password to this unix user as you will be using your radius account to provide the password.

2. Create the client configuration file folder structure.
Create a directory under the /etc folder called raddb.
So you have a directory path which looks like /etc/raddb
This is done like so
mkdir /etc/raddb

3. Copy the sample client configuration file pam_radius_auth.conf to /etc/raddb/server
This sample file is found in the unarchived folder you downloaded earlier - in my example so I would run.
cp /root/pam/pam_radius-1.3.17/pam_radius_auth.conf /etc/raddb/server

3. Edit the /etc/raddb/server to match the radius server "turbo".

open the /etc/raddb/server in an editor such as vi
Under the section that looks like

# server[:port] shared_secret timeout (s)
127.0.0.1 secret 1
other-server other-secret 3

Add a line that represents your radius server. You will need to enter your servers hostname or IP address and a sharesecret that you will need to assign in this file and on your radius server. So make a note of this password.

I am going to add my radius server "turbo" and specify a shared secret of "s3cret" after editing my file looks like this

# server[:port] shared_secret timeout (s)
127.0.0.1 secret 1
turbo s3cret 3

Now edit the /etc/pam.d/sshd file. This file controls the authentication method for sshd service which facilitates SSH logins. We need to tell it to use the /lib/security/pam_radius_auth.so file we created compiled earlier.

Before the top line

auth include system-auth

add this line

auth required pam_radius_auth.so

so the first two lines will look like this

auth sufficient pam_radius_auth.so
auth include system-auth

This will tell the SSH service / daemon to use the radius protocol and server for authentication. By leaving the line

With this configuration the SSHD will also check local system sccount passwords as a fall back. This means you can log in as root or other unix local accounts should your radius server be off line.

NOTE! You are changing the authentication method for logging in to your centos box via SSH. Make sure you can get into it via console (monitor mouse and keyboard) in case this goes wrong and you get locked out of SSH

Configure your Steel Belted Radius Server

1. Setup Cyclone as a radius client

Right "Click Radius Clients"
Click ADD
In the Add RADIUS client window add the IPaddress or hostname of the centos cyclone box and add the shared secret we decided on earlier in this example "s3cret"

2. Add a username on the radius box "turbo"

Right "Click users"
Click Add

Add a native user and set a password.

Test a Logon to the Centos SSH service

Fire up your SSH client

Connect to the box and login as the user and password you set on radius server earlier. In my case "dave"

If it lets you voila job done you have used the radius server to provide SSH authentication. If it doesn't then you might start by looking in the /var/log/secure/file for clues. Also the centos forum is pretty good I often find some helpful people on there - if you are really desperate you can leave a comment here! :)
